Whoever praised the 'blue eight' in Schwerin's government has not been there by bike. The highest traffic volume is in the center of the 'eight'. Only traffic noise and no nature.

The Schweriner See with its "Blauen Acht" is currently a beautiful "Grüne Acht" 🌳🌿 and an absolute must for anyone who wants to be out in wonderful nature! In the city center of Schwerin, you should simply let yourself drift and not pay too much attention to the planned route, because it has a lot to offer: - The Cathedral, with its viewing platform (https://www.kirche-mv.de/index.php?id=1002&type=0) - The markets (https://www.schwerin.de/kultur-tourismus-alt/veranstaltungen/Maerkte-verkaufsoffene-Sonntage/) - The half-timbered houses - The great views of the castle 🏰 and in the castle garden, where carrying and pushing your bike is allowed, you should definitely walk through. If you like, please leave a small donation 💰 The "Blaue Acht" offers: - Pure nature - Varied paths (road, field, and forest paths) - Swimming spots, where skinny dipping is also allowed 👍🏼 - A few "restaurants" located directly on the route - Seating and resting areas with beautiful views - Campsites offering clean toilets and drinking water What distinguishes my route from the original: - I ride as close to the water as possible and - therefore occasionally deviate from the original route. - My tour is suitable for Gravel and Mountain bikes. - From Görslow to Leetzen, I ride a singletrack trail, - which should be ridden without luggage and - requires safe riding technique (narrow, tight corners, etc.). - The trail ends at Km 21 (but I ride a bit further). - Thanks to the person who "maintains" this trail! Top 🔝 👍🏼 What to consider generally on the "Blaue Acht": - There is no official signage for the route - Fallen trees can block the path All information about the route can be found here: https://www.mecklenburg-schwerin.de/unsere-region/das-schweriner-seenland/blaue-acht/ Besides this wonderful nature, I also found time to switch off. - For me, a perfect day!

The Blue Eight is a popular circular route for cyclists and nature lovers around the Schwerin Lake. It owes its name to the course of the route, which with a little imagination resembles the shape of a figure eight and connects the most beautiful sections of the Schwerin inner and outer lakes. The tour leads through varied landscapes with forests, meadows, small villages, and again and again along the shore of the Schwerin Lake. Along the way, viewpoints, swimming spots, and cozy places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a break. Highlights include the magnificent views of Schwerin Castle, the natural eastern shore of the outer lake, and the idyllic lakeside paths. With its combination of nature, culture, and varied route sections, the Blue Eight is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is suitable for both leisurely day trips and for sporty, ambitious cyclists who want to discover the Schwerin Lake in a particularly versatile way.

The cycle path is mostly well-developed. If you don't want to cycle directly along the water, there's always a good paved alternative route.
