Schloss Monrepos in Neuwied (approx. 145 km south of Ratingen) was once the baroque summer residence of the Princes of Wied, but is today better known as the location of the MONREPOS Archaeological Museum. The historic main castle was demolished in 1969. Today, the Villa Waldheim, built in 1909, forms the center. Right next to it lies the picturesque Schwedenhaus, an old, historic half-timbered building in Scandinavian style.
