Only allowed on weekends Garlstedt and Schwanewede military training areas Informing the public about the ban on entering the military training areas The garrison commander of Osterholz-Scharmbeck / Schwanewede points out that unauthorized persons are strictly prohibited from entering the Garlstedt and Schwanewede military training areas, in particular the Platzrandstraße in Garlstedt and the connecting road in Schwanewede. Driving on these roads with private vehicles is also strictly prohibited. Only on weekends without training (Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to Sundays at midnight) are recreational users (runners, walkers, cyclists, inline skaters... - but no motorized vehicles) allowed to use these roads exclusively. Despite appropriate signs, unauthorized persons are repeatedly encountered on the roads and the training grounds outside of the approved times. Both military training areas are constantly used for military training, which also involves the use of training, display, and maneuver ammunition. For unauthorized persons, there is therefore a danger that should not be underestimated from the training troops and the vehicles used, especially tracked vehicles. It is also warned not to touch, pick up, or change the position of any found ammunition or ammunition parts. Illegal appropriation of ammunition and ammunition parts will be prosecuted. The boundaries of the military training areas are marked with appropriate signs. Main access routes are additionally blocked by barriers. The Garrison Commander

The megalithic tombs of Northwest Germany are the most impressive witnesses of the Stone Age settlement of this landscape. They were created about 5000 years ago (Neolithic) as burial sites for several people, often used over long periods. The megalithic tombs in Northwest Germany are passage graves, usually with at least three capstones. Probably due to the abundant building material available, the burial sites were mostly built in ground and end moraine areas. In past centuries, unfortunately, many megalithic tombs were destroyed, the stones often blasted and used for the construction of roads, churches, and houses. The present megalithic tomb consists of 21 erratic boulders. The structure is 11.0 m long, 4.0 m wide, and rises 1.8 m above ground level. The largest stone is the capstone (length: 2.4 m, width: 1.8 m, height: 1.3 m). It weighs approx. 12 t. Source: Information board at the location
