A pompous palace with a huge park, Versailles is a dilapidated outhouse compared to this! I certainly wouldn't have expected such splendor in the middle of Kirtorf Forest! Watch out for the castle dog—it jumps at you from behind from the highest castle battlements and bites your neck! 😬

Hessen Forst is making a name for itself again with pond renovations! The cow trough has benefited from this!

"Gliesbeurel" is a colloquial term that means "dumpling bag". The Ober-Gleen farm workers probably took dumplings with them to the fields as a snack, which is what the wooden sculpture represents.

The hall church was built in 1753/54 according to a design by Helfrich Müller and his son Lorenz Friedrich Müller. The nave has a three-sided end in the east and a square, slate-covered roof tower in the west, which has an octagonal top on which sits a bell-shaped hood crowned by a lantern. The first organ was taken from the church in Kirtorf, which Johann Conrad Schmitt had built in 1711. It was replaced in 1753 by an organ built by Johann Andreas Heinemann with 11 registers on a manual and pedal, which was restored in 1950 by Förster & Nicolaus Orgelbau.[1] A bell cast by Hans Kortrog in 1513, the baptismal font from 1573 and the pulpit from 1638 with inlays and carvings were taken from the previous church, which was documented in 1577. The well-paved cycling and hiking path connects the towns of Angenrod and Ober-Gleen. At this point it runs over the federal highway using this bridge.
