The Leonhard Church in Gellmersbach was originally dedicated to Saint Leonhard of Limoges and built in 1544, although the tower dates from 1667. The previous church was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525. The Leonhard Chain, consisting of 392 links, is stretched around the Leonhard Church. This chain indicates Leonhard as a prisoner liberator. Such chain churches are otherwise only found in the Alpine region. The church also has a window with the Adoration of the Magi, which is exactly duplicated in the Johannis Church in Weinsberg. The window bears the year 1522, but this is a fictitious date. There is also an emergency bell from the Second World War on the outside of the church. This was made from an aerial bomb.
