Immigrants could build a Leibgedinghaus (a house of life) if they married and paid a lifetime tribute to the landowner. It was something like slavery, and it existed here in the Black Forest until the 20th century.

The small altar of the Helewand Chapel has been moved to a safe place and can only be seen here on very special days. But it's still a beautiful spot with a bench next to it, where you can enjoy the expansive view over the meadows and forests.

Today we went on the Gäg Wäg with our 5-year-old grandson. The trail is designated as a family trail in the Hochschwarzwald portal. However, I have to say, the jokes aren't exactly funny. More for older children or adults. The views of the valleys and far beyond are magnificent. Except for the last kilometer on the root path, it was boring for our grandson. A highlight is the Café Feldbergblick.
