Great spot right on the Selenter See. When it's windy, the waves roll right up to the wooden deck – almost a bit of Baltic Sea feeling in the middle of the country.

The watermill, first mentioned in 1320, was rebuilt in 1866 and decommissioned exactly 100 years later. In 1982, it was converted into a residential building. From 1904, a power plant operated on the site, supplying electricity to Hagen and Dobersdorf, as well as the church, rectory, and school, until the turbine was decommissioned and the mill demolished in 1930.

A truly impressive building, well worth a visit, and open to the public on special occasions. Details about the castle can be found at www.schloss-bredeneek.de/geschichte

Bredeneek Castle has retained its original character to this day. The rooms have barely changed overall. Join us for a brief journey through history.
