History: The gamekeeper and hunter Julius Bartholomae was after a large roebuck, which he was lying in wait for on a high seat on May 29, 1919. In the evening twilight, he heard noises opposite his hide and assumed that the stag had come out into the clearing. However, it was poachers who, like him, were after the stag and thought they had been caught, whereupon they immediately shot the gamekeeper twice. One shot was fatal. During a search the next day, the dead man was found lying under the high seat. A poorly carved memorial stone was later placed here.
