From the Middle Ages until 1803, the Iberg formed the border between the three countries: Between the Bishopric of Paderborn (Welda), the Principality of Waldeck (Hörle), and the Duchy of Westphalia (Volkmarsen). Volkmarsen's affiliation has changed several times; at one point, it was part of the Electorate of Hesse. When Waldeck was a Hessian district, a district of the Hessian and Westphalian counties was formed over Iberg. The three stones still bear witness to the old border area.

A huge, beautiful wild garlic field in the middle of the forest. It smells of the delicious plant everywhere and in May during the flowering the forest floor consists of a great sea of flowers
