The last days of the holiday were spent in and around Brakel. There are great hiking trails here. Today I was out and about in Rheder. A bit of training for the next hike and of course looking for a few geocaches. Both of these things work really well in this area...

Caspar Moritz Freiherr von Haxthausen had today's manor house built in 1769-1771 on the foundations of a 15th century moated castle by the Hildesheim court architect Anton Went for his son Werner Adolph. In the 19th century, the Bökerhof manor house was the center of the “Bökendorf Romantic Circle” (1810–1834) with the sisters Jenny and Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, Clemens Brentano and Josef Görres. In 1817 Ludwig Emil Grimm traveled to Bökerhof Castle. There's more here: https://www.ebidat.de/cgi-bin/ebidat.pl?id=3996 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%B6kerhof
