November 13, 2025, Maria Linden Forest Chapel

Halfway between the Sulm Bridge at Leibnitz and Seggau Castle, on a small terraced slope, stands the Forest Chapel, also known as the Turkish Chapel, commemorating the destruction of Leibnitz in 1532. This chapel marks the site of a former image of the Virgin Mary by a linden tree. The late-classical rotunda with a dome was built in 1841 under Bishop Roman Zängerle. In 1876, August Schwach painted two historicist battle scenes in wax crayon on the side walls to the left and right of the altar. The semi-open rotunda is enclosed by a wrought-iron gate.
