The elementary school on Norderney is located in the heart of the Wadden Sea National Park World Heritage Site. The school has two classes and has been an open all-day school since 2014. Afternoon activities continue until 3:30 p.m. The elementary school is housed in a 125-year-old, listed building that is gradually being renovated and offers all the children and the adults who work there enough space to work and eat lunch. The building is a friendly, seemingly giant: except for two rooms, every room is used by us every day. This year, the small but important cafeteria extension was completed. Now we can enjoy lunch even more relaxed. Two large schoolyards, one paved, the other wonderfully natural, invite the children to play in the mornings and afternoons. The wooden playground equipment may be visibly showing its age, but the resourceful TDN staff have refurbished all the equipment with great skill and great attention to detail...

To use such an impressive old building as a primary school: fantastic! The little children must surely be in awe of the school system and learn hard ☺️!
