To be precise, there were three minesweeping squadrons…and two fast attack craft squadrons…the so-called Baltic Sea rockers…each squadron had a tender (supply ship). In naval circles, Olpenitz was also affectionately called Olpenizsibirsk…because it was in the middle of nowhere…🙃 Until the end of the 1990s, 50 boats were stationed there…today, the navy unfortunately doesn't even have a fraction of that number…

A lovely stretch of beach from the Olpenitz promenade directly to the beach and barefoot along the water's edge to Schönhagen, sometimes a bit rocky and with the opportunity to swim in the Baltic Sea every now and then - simply wonderful.

This small sandy beach is located in the harbor basin of Port Olpenitz. It's artificially created and planted with beach grass. In summer, it's very busy, with dozens of SUPs frolicking among the bathers.
