Freely accessible drinking water point directly on the railway embankment cycle path. Visually pretty, laid out between two natural stones, but suboptimal for refilling drinking bottles, as only a mini fountain bubbles up here. From a construction perspective, in my view, a flawed design.

The artist Siegfried Neuenhausen intends political and social relevance with his work. He worked in participatory projects with residents of his district in Hanover and with socially marginalized groups, but he also created numerous bronze sculptures in which he mostly depicted anonymized people and crowds. His memorial for the victims of National Socialism and tyranny shows a bronze figure slightly larger than life-size, which does not portray an individual but represents humanity itself. The figure is surrounded and pressed in from all sides by four hook-shaped steel elements. These geometrically abstract structures, in their arrangement, allow associations with a swastika as well as with a Star of David, with which Jewish citizens were branded during National Socialism. But also generally as a symbol of the human being who is pressured and confined by political and ideological systems.

The railway line is great to ride on, but make sure you put a bicycle bell on for pedestrians. All the intersections now have stop signs for drivers, so cyclists have the right of way everywhere.
