We booked the "Tischlein deck dich" (Set the Table) weekend package at the Sauerländer Hof Hotel. They arranged for a picnic to be prepared for us at the SGV Hallenberg mountain hut. All we had to do was arrange everything neatly on a table. The yellow box offered plenty of tasty treats and cold drinks. It was a nice rest stop during our hike, and our backpacks weren't as packed as usual.

Welcome to the historic half-timbered town of Hallenberg. With its narrow, winding streets, notable monuments and churches, such as the parish church of St. Heribert or the pilgrimage church of the Assumption of Mary, and the idyllic market square with St. Peter's Fountain from 1756, the old town, with its almost 800-year history, invites you to linger.
