The historic clock mechanism of St. Michael's Church is typical of its time. The mechanical construction, made of cast iron and brass, controlled the tower clock from 1910 onwards. The sexton had to climb to the top of the tower weekly to wind the clock, raising the weights suspended from steel cables using three hand-cranked winches – one each for the time display and the chimes on the hour and quarter hours. In 1978, it was replaced by an electronic clock mechanism, as the old one had rusted and gathered dust. In 2008, it was restored with the support of the Lüneburg branch of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and master watchmaker Dieter Teckentrupp of the Michaelis Academy. A visit is highly recommended and quite interesting 👍🏼.

A Schrebergarten with a lake view at Kreidebergsee. This is possible in the garden colony on Moldenweg. Idyllically located on Kreidebergsee and yet "right in the middle" of the beautiful city of Lüneburg. It all began in 1938 when the garden colony Ochtmissener Kirchsteig was founded. There was the Upper Section Ochtmissener Kirchsteig and the Lower Section Moldenweg.
