The Gefyra Taverna Cafe - Anyone who has experienced the special atmosphere of the tavern once will gladly return. Separated only by a road, it is idyllically situated on the Megalopotamos, opposite the Turkish bridge. You sit under trees, there is no indoor dining area. The food is incredibly delicious, the prices absolutely reasonable. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and helpful.

Often fewer waves than at other beaches in the area. There are good tavernas right on the beach.

The Lower Preveli Monastery "Kato Monastiri" is the first thing you see when arriving from Rethymnon. It is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Today it is deserted and not accessible. It dates back to the Venetian period. The monastery used to be used all year round, as the surrounding areas were ideal for cultivation and agriculture. However, it was later abandoned, as it was destroyed and plundered several times by the various conquerors of Crete.

The tavern is in a great location. You can sit in the shade of the big trees. The prices are on par with a tourist hotspot...

The tavern with a view of the bridge and the small lake and the ducks and geese on it are one of our favorite places on the island, which is not exactly short on highlights. Rarely overcrowded, you can unwind here. If you are very lucky, you can even see a griffon vulture that has wandered here from the mountains.

High above the sea, a place of peace and reflection (at least in May, if you look at the size of the car park, there also seem to be days of mass influx). Something different from the beach and hustle and bustle, a visit can be recommended with a clear conscience.

Nice hike, incredible view from the top. What a pleasure to find yourself next to this charming church. End of hike to be modified because the path no longer seems to exist
