The least preserved of the three Spanish-era forts in Porto Ercole, Fort Santa Caterina is privately owned. From Fort Fillipo, you can admire the stone and whitewashed plaster walls of this pentagonal fort, protected from the sea by another reinforced stone wall. The parapet, arrow slits, and windows visible on the exterior wall were once used to house gunboats. (c) https://maremma.name/argentario/porto-ercole/forte-santa-caterina/

The Church of San Paolo della Croce is a sacred building located in Porto Ercole, in the municipality of Monte Argentario. Built in 1966, it houses an important 16th-century painting depicting Saint John the Baptist in the Desert, donated in 1957 to the parish of Porto Ercole by the Cornaggia Medici Castiglioni family in memory of their son. The work, previously attributed to Girolamo da Carpi, has recently been attributed to the Lombard painter Lorenzo Leonbruno. (c) https://argentario.it/chiesa-di-san-paolo-della-croce/

Small seaside village, very pretty and with a very well organized marina. The view is framed by the presence of two fortresses placed to defend the bay
