The "ice cellar" still preserved here was built in 1880 by Johannes-Georg Schultis, the innkeeper of the Kronenwirt (crown inn). It was so large that one could drive into it with a horse-drawn cart. Besides this ice cellar, there were five more in the valley, each of varying sizes. Where possible, ice ponds were created nearby, the ice was cut off, and large blocks were transported to the cellar. Ice pools were created in meadows for ice extraction. Chestnut trees were usually planted around the ice cellars, which provided plenty of shade in the summer. There is evidence that beer has been brewed in Simonswald since 1815. Fackler beer was brewed nearby at the Ochsen Inn and was sold as far away as Alsace. The beer was very popular due to the good water quality.

The Simonswälder Oil and Grain Mill is a cultural monument dating back to the early 18th century. Powered by an undershot waterwheel, the oil mill consists of a rapeseed mill, a grinding stone, a stirring furnace, and a pressing device. The year 1712 is carved into the massive 10-meter-long oak lever arm. Since 1999, the mill has been owned by the municipality and leased to the Simonswäldertal Customs Association. The association operates the oil mill on a voluntary basis and produces a high-quality walnut oil for sale using a process that is over 300 years old.
