After the great city fire of 1730, the small city-republic of Windsheim once again demonstrated its self-confidence by building a large and magnificent government building, the town hall. It truly resembles a princely palace.

The Schöne Brunnen (Beautiful Fountain) gives the Weinmarkt (Wine Market), which is already surrounded by beautiful houses, its special flair. Proudly standing on the fountain column is the patron of the Free Imperial City of Windsheim, Emperor Charles VI, the father of the great Maria Theresa.

The astronomical town hall clock at Bad Windsheim Town Hall is one of the oldest of its kind in Bavaria. The lower dial indicates the time of day in hours and minutes on a twelve-hour scale. The upper dial shows the hour, the current month, and the phase of the moon. The lunar disk completes one rotation in 29.5 days. The sun indicator indicates the ruling zodiac sign, a rarity and one of the oldest examples in northern Bavaria. The rotating world disk allows the time to be read along longitudes for the entire northern hemisphere using the double twelve-hour scale. A town hall clock dating to 1580 is documented for Windsheim. The town hall was destroyed in the town fire of 1730 and was soon rebuilt, and the clock was replaced—possibly using older parts.

The Windsheim "Roland" war memorial was erected in 1928 as a memorial made of shell limestone. The figure alone is 8 meters high, while the entire column reaches a height of 11 meters. The sculpture depicts a knight holding a sword in both hands, its point resting on the ground. The Windsheim coat of arms is incorporated into the armor on the right side. A later added plaque commemorates the fallen of World War II. The left side of the canopy bears the inscription "To the Living as a Reminder." https://www.bad-windsheim.de/stadt-mit-tradition/die-altstadt/rundgang/windsheimer-roland
