Since 2023, a small sandstone suitcase has commemorated the deportation and murder of Karlstadt's Jews under the Nazi dictatorship at the Schnellertor gate complex. Additional stone pieces of luggage were placed near the former synagogues in Laudenbach and Wiesenfeld in collaboration with the Würzburg-based association "DenkOrt Deportationen." Their design is the result of a project by Karlstadt middle school students in 2020 and 2021. Each piece of luggage exists twice – that is the idea behind the project. The counterparts of the three sandstone suitcases have been on display at the Würzburg Memorial Site near the main train station since September 24, 2021.
