The view from the bridge on the Burgstraat in Nederweert over the Zuid-Willemsvaart is very nice. A short stop is recommended.

Uit .: kerkgebouw-in-limburg.nl The Roman Catholic PARISH CHURCH Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, some interior pieces of which previously enjoyed protection under monument number 21383, is situated on a narrow and elongated plot between Kerkstraat and Pastoor Huijbenplein in the old center of Panningen. The church was built in 1930 by H.W. Valk (Den Bosch) in collaboration with construction chaplain J.H. Huijben and stylistically displays elements of the Neo-Gothic. The relatively minor war damage (top part of the tower and two ship bays) was repaired in 1949 and 1951 by H.W. and G.N.F. Valk reconstructed from the original. The remarkably large church was built on almost the same location where a Marian devotional chapel was located from the middle of the seventeenth century (the 'Kepèl', once the common name for Panningen). In the eighteenth century, this chapel was one of the busiest pilgrimages in the Duchy of Gelder. In 1830 'Kepèl' grew into an independent parish with a new, own church building. Due to the growth of the parish and the still influx of pilgrims, this building was already too small and was eventually replaced in 1930 by the current church. In the choir is a foundation stone, laid on April 27 by G.A.H. Bauduin, who recalls the then three hundred years of veneration of 'Our Lady of Seven Sorrows' and the centenary of the parish.
