Arreskov Lake is Funen's largest lake and is located about 8 km northeast of Faaborg. It is a shallow lake with an area of just over 3 km². The lake has an average depth of 2 m and is 4 m deep at its deepest point. Odense River begins on the eastern shore of the lake. An observation tower has been built on the western shore of the lake, from which the rich birdlife can be observed. The first Skovlyst restaurant was built in 1926 by farm owner Jens Andersen. He was interested in astronomy and built the 18-meter-high tower behind the restaurant in 1935. A telescope was placed at the top. Today, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Svanninge Bakker from the tower.
