The German Cement Museum in Hemmoor is located on Federal Road 73 opposite the Kreidesee lake in Hemmoor. In the Warstade district, the outdoor area displays machines, historical locomotives, an old forge, and a locomotive shed. Information boards are located on the premises. The cement works' production was founded in 1866 after chalk deposits were found in the immediate vicinity; today, the popular Kreidesee lake is located here, where hobby divers enjoy diving. A free parking lot and seating areas are available at the lake. A visit is recommended and interesting at the same time 👍🏼.

An open church in the east, right in the center of the village. Beautiful to see from the inside, don't just drive by. A visit is worthwhile.

A fantastic cycling route all around. There's plenty of beautiful scenery and information panels along the way. Several locks are located on the route, and there are plenty of pleasant places to sit. With a bit of luck, you might even spot deer 🦌 in the distance. The ferry landing in Gräpel offers a lovely crossing to the other side. There's lots of information available near the ferry landing, so a visit is highly recommended. There are also great places to sit and a shelter.

The transporter bridge in the Cuxhaven district was put into operation in 1909. After a bridge was built nearby in the 1970s, it became redundant for regular traffic. Volunteers campaigned to keep it running for pedestrians, cyclists, and small vehicles – and they succeeded: This year, the support association, which has since also founded the "FährStuv" museum, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The transporter bridge has developed into a major tourist attraction over the past decades, says Brinkmann.

Suspension ferry: There are only a few suspension ferries worldwide. There used to be 20, today there are only eight left. Which are still in operation as a means of transport. The oldest in Germany is located on the Oste in the municipality of Hemmoor. The Hemmoor support association, founded in 1975 and with around 250 members today, takes care of its operation and maintenance.
