Eels from Lake Zwischenahner have been a delicacy in Ammerland for centuries. After being caught, the eels are smoked, creating the famous "Ammerländer Smoortaal" specialty. At the Spieker Restaurant, located directly on Lake Zwischenahner, hungry guests can enjoy the popular Smoortaal traditionally served with the Ammerländer Löffeltrunk (a traditional dish made from sauerkraut). Mighty dark wooden beams, light brick walls, and a beautiful stone floor, wicker chairs, and solid wooden tables define the rustic character of the establishment. Heavy oak barrels under the bar, pewter tableware, and, during the colder months, a blazing fire in the fireplace, create a cozy atmosphere for guests. https://www.nordwestbahn.de/de/frischluft-tanken/ausflugsziele-niedersachsen/poi/spieker-bad-zwischenahn

In the Spieker you can enjoy Ammerland hospitality. As an annex to the Ammerland Farmhouse Open Air Museum, the Spieker with its rustic furnishings corresponds to the stylish half-timbered construction. The furnishings correspond to the rural character of the house. In summer, the large beer garden is a popular meeting place. The menu only features traditional, regional dishes. The Herbert Ekkenga AG passenger shipping company has been operating the fleet on the Zwischenahner Meer since 1987. Through continuous investment, renewal and modernization of the fleet, the shipping company has made a name for itself throughout northern Germany as the "White Fleet" and has become a major tourist attraction in Bad Zwischenahn. The "MS Bad Zwischenahn" was put into service in the 2007 summer season. It is the first barrier-free ship of a total of 2 ships. The main pier in Bad Zwischenahn and the pier in Dreibergen offer barrier-free boarding and disembarkation.
