At the intersection of the Twentseweg, the Regge and the Molenbeek lies the castle grounds of Ter Molen. Later the manor Schuilenburg was created here. The old Twentseweg forms an important connection between Twente and Salland. Schuilenburg has influenced the region for many centuries and, according to tradition, may even have controlled it. When the zomp approaches the overtoom, it moors at a sturdy jetty. Directly below this jetty, the concrete slope begins, equipped with wooden beams as rails. Under water, there is a support system with four wide nylon wheels, which follow the track precisely: up and down again at the top of the slope. These wheels are driven by a sturdy chain. The support system, with a sturdy stand above which a box is mounted, houses an electric motor with gear reduction, so that a limited power is sufficient. The electric motor sets the chain in motion, so that the four wheels guide the support system smoothly over the rails. This electric motor receives power from the batteries on board the zomp. After sailing on the overtoom, the zomp is attached to the support system at the jetty and anchored to two stands. In this way, the zomp is operated up and down, and continues its course towards Nijverdal or the opposite direction. Above Hellendoorn, there is a second overtoom of the same efficient system, mainly financed by the municipality of Hellendoorn. These overtooms are unique in the Netherlands and are still used in practice. Source: https://entersezomp.nl/overtoom/

The Cool Nature concept was developed by Niche on behalf of the Province of Gelderland, as part of the climate program. Cool Nature contributes to climate- and heat-resistant cities and villages and realizes robust play nature for children. In short: good for nature, good for city and village, good for children and therefore good for the future. The nature playground is located on both sides of the new road. One part is directly on the edge of the village. You reach the other part via two large play and survival divers under the road. https://www.sallandseheuvelrug.nl/wat-te-doen/gezinsactiviteiten/27834-cool-nature-hellendoorn/

Not only the fish ladder is interesting, but also the Overtoom that is there. Both to bypass the weir in the Regge. That Overtoom is explained on the information board on the other side.
