Quartz sand has been mined here in Dorsten for decades. In April 2024, expansion plans were mentioned in the Dorstener Zeitung. However, I could not find any definitive statement on whether the envisaged 25 hectares of land will actually be added and a corresponding amount of forest area will be lost.

As already described, here I agree with the other tipsters: The surrounding nature is wonderful, the narrow paths, the springy forest floor under your feet, but the A31 motorway, the intersecting federal roads and the shooting range do not ensure maximum relaxation.
