The Capeller Torhaus is a historic building in Nordkirchen, located at the park entrance as part of the Nordkirchen Baroque Palace complex, known as the "Westphalian Versailles". It is a striking point when visiting Westphalia's largest moated castle, often part of hiking routes in the Coesfeld district.

Even in the otherwise relatively flat Münsterland region, there are beautiful viewpoints. Here, on the edge of the Ichterloh, at 99 meters above sea level, is the highest point in the municipality of Nordkirchen. A relaxing view of the Capelle district and the Kohuesholz forest, which belongs to Werne, awaits the hiker.

From the hill, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the Münsterland park landscape. At the foot of the depression once stood Ichterloh Castle, which, after approximately 500 years of history, was sadly demolished in 1875. The rest area is very beautiful and offers plenty of space for visitors, with a table and benches, as well as two hiking loungers.

Westerwinkel Castle is privately owned and cannot be visited without a guide. However, you can visit the wonderful park. In spring, many cherry trees bloom here.

In 1909, a red deer enclosure was set up in the nearby Hirschpark forest area. The enclosure existed for around 60 years and today gives the Hirschpark nature reserve its name. In 1929, a ducal wild horse stud farm was set up and breeding of the Arenberg-Nordkirchener pony breed, which is now threatened with extinction, began. Wild horse breeding was abandoned in 1968.
