The primary purpose of the protected forest is to preserve and develop a near-natural mixed forest of sessile oak, hornbeam, small-leaved lime, and European beech, in order to scientifically observe natural forest development and to provide habitat for endangered plants and animals. Particular emphasis is placed on the long-term research of undisturbed forest development, soil and species structure, and its use as a vivid example for silviculture and forestry education. Additionally, the project aims to safeguard forest genetic resources and to maintain and promote biodiversity in naturally occurring communities.

The fortified church in Neuendorf is one of the oldest fieldstone churches in the region. It dates from the second half of the 13th century. In the southeast corner of the church, in an opening in the adjoining wall, there is a checkerboard stone with a diamond pattern.

It's a bit dated and the view of the lake isn't as good anymore. But it's still a nice resting place
