This adit entrance is not locked and looks a bit wild. The slate slabs around the mouth are reminiscent of shark teeth.

On the signs, this spot is called Ranseler Jordan. The spot is a highlight on the route.

The name of the highlight is misleading. Nothing can be seen of the Middle Rhine Valley or even the Rhine itself. However, the view reaches far and you can guess where the valley is.

Unfortunately, only one side of the boundary stone has survived. The Mainz wheel and the year 1697 are clearly visible. The other side should show the Nassau Lion, but it is unfortunately completely weathered.

Perhaps the most beautiful part of the Ranseler Höhenrausch, a beautiful path through the valley of a stream including crossing the rushing watercourse.

Although this area is still officially part of the Weisel district, it is practically part of Lipporn and Wollmerschied. In 1697 and 1698, a well-documented boundary demarcation took place here between the bailiwick of Schönau, or Nassau-Weilburg (Northwest), and the Electorate of Mainz (Churmainz). This stone dates from this period and bears not only the Wheel of Mainz on one side and the Nassau Lion on the other, but also the year 1697. It is made of red sandstone.
