Monument Commemorating the Murdered High School Graduate Tomek Jaworski - near the Żerański Canal

The largest monument in the Białołęka district is located in a forgotten part of the district - in Marcelin. It is a copy of the famous Christ the Redeemer sculpture, standing on top of Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The figure, erected in 1996 in front of the Centre for Helping Your Neighbour at Marywilska, is 6 metres high, made of cement and marble chips, and stands on a 9-metre granite pedestal. The initiator of the figure's erection was one of the most famous Polish social activists Marek Kotański (1942-2002), the founder of the Monar and Markot organisations, which help, among others, drug addicts and the homeless. A similar, much smaller sculpture is located on his grave in the Military Cemetery in Warsaw.

A huge steel structure that was once a road for a railway bringing coal to FSO. Today it is an abandoned steel giant, fortunately stable in terms of construction, but just crossing it, on rotten planks, is something best forgotten.

Supposedly, the last train passed over it in 2011. It was used by trains going to nearby factories. Supposedly, even PKP and the district authorities do not claim ownership of the bridge. The structure of the bridge is deteriorating, the wooden platforms are rotten in places. Many people walk over the bridge. But it is dangerous.

June 14, 1997, a day of tragedy for Tomek Jaworski, a high school graduate from '97, who was brutally murdered and buried by the Żerań canal. The murderers were convicted, but some of them are already free today. A commemorative obelisk with the inscription stands at the place where Tomasz Jaworski was murdered: "I only lived 19 years, because here, on the night of June 14, 1997, my earthly life was taken away from me. Although the earth has dried up from the blood of the stream, the screams of the murderers can still be heard. But I won and I hold the book of sentences in my hand - Tomek Jaworski".

Sculpture at the Monar resort. The area is not generally accessible to the public, but it can be seen from behind the fence.
