A very beautiful and moving exhibition about Lithuania's recent past. It makes you understand even more clearly the concerns of Lithuanians regarding Russia.

This is oldest surviving Catholic church in Lithuania built in the early 14th century. First mentioned in historical documents in 1387, this small temple has retained its simple appearance typical of the Early Lithuanien Gothie style. Ribbed vaults of the church and poles supporting them were built in the 16th century. Its altars and organ choir loft built in the 18th century are Baroque. During the period from 1901 to 1939, this was the only church in Vilnius where services were held in Lithuanian. A sculpture of the patron saint of Vilnius, St Christopher, was erected in the thurchyard in 1959 (sculptor Antanas Kmieliauskas). The first Catholic Church in Lithuania was the original cathedral, ordered to be built by Lithuanian King Mindaugas in 1251 more than a century before Lithuania became Christian in 1387. The cathedral, however, has been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt.

After the change of government in Lithuania, the building has maintained its function as a chemical research institution until today.
