The castle was built in 1778 as a summer home for a wealthy Gothenburg merchant. The house was then considered one of the most magnificent Swedish timber structures. Today, the renovated castle is one of the finest Swedish examples of Neoclassical architecture. In 2001, on the eve of the EU summit, George W. Busch and the other summit participants met here. They had chosen an idyllic place. Apparently events are taking place here today, a big stage testifies to it. There should be a café-restaurant with kitchen garden and bread-bakery. I did not discover it though.
