A small red wooden church with a distinctly coastal feel. Its simple wooden design and quiet setting make it a surprisingly special stop along the way.

The sculptures on display change regularly, or annually. Therefore, don't rely on the photos published on Komoot, as these sculptures will likely no longer be there next year, and other sculptures will be on display. Our expectations were set by pictures of Ai Wei Wei's exhibits, and we searched in vain for them. It's best to check the park's website, pilane.org, for information about the current exhibition in advance.

I came here quite by chance, as you can see the white head of "Anna" from a long way away. The park can also be cycled with a gravel bike or mountain bike, if you are willing to carry the bike up several flights of stairs and don't "have to" cycle down every sculpture.

Nice little town with winding streets and a large marina. Great views of the archipelago islands are best enjoyed from the elevated church.

On the initiative of an art collector, a sculpture park has been created here that is unrivaled in Sweden, the Pilane Sculpture Park. At the very top, Anna is enthroned with a radiant white facial sculpture by the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. She has a sister in Ekeberg Park in Oslo. 19 other works of art are currently (= 2024) placed in the landscape and connected by hiking trails. These include, for example, "Iron Figures" by Maats Lodé (S) or "Cancan" by Anna Fasshauer (D) The park is not wheelchair accessible. Ticket (at the cash desk): 150/130 SEK More information and opening times: https://pilane.org/en/index.php
