I visited on a sunny day, it was warm at the bottom and very windy at the very top. The route was quite easy.

Hike from Sunnyhurst pub, take in Darwen Tower then drop down to The Royal and back through the field for a nice circular route. Great on a lovely day and the pub does food if you want an afternoon snack or meal

A beautiful woodland with old trees. As it is on the Witton Weaver's long distance path; it is incredibly well maintained. And provides some welcome shade on a hot summer's day. The colors in autumn are striking and in winter; as the trees are quite old; their shape is intricate and beautiful.

As the sun was shining and someone was navigating the water on a small rowing boat; this did not feel like a reservoir at all. For a short moment; I though I was on holiday, walking around a beautiful natural lake.
