September 27, 2025, Hedgehope Hill Car Park

There is a rough area for parking here for one of the main routes to go up The Cheviot Hedgehope Hill. It’s big enough for at least ten vehicles. If it’s full, there is a large grassy area beyond it, if it’s not too wet.

A lovely little waterfall where you can make a detour to and swim in the pool below it.

Very boggy and have to find alternate routes round. There are deep boggy areas that go straight across the path.

Harthope Valley is treacherous, there is lots of stone stepping across the rivers, one area of the path has completely dissappeared and it's all very boggy. We walked up to The Cheviot backwards and had to turn back due to holes everywhere and couldn't see a clear path on where to go, there is no set path up Cairn hill and very boggy.

Great views all round.

Loads of places to park before the climb up to Hedgehope hill.

Highest mountain in Northumberland national park, a decent path runs through to the summit as its a complete bog fest and there's not really any views as its a large plateau, but the views on the way back down are beautiful.
