Whitelee - has a Brilliant selection of Gravel Cycling MTB 🚲. Living & 🚴🏽♂️🚴🏽♀️🚴 from Eaglesham it’s right on our back door ! . I have been utilising it’s many facilities for the last 3 to 4 Years. Nearly every week - Year round - So many options, hardly every 🚴 the exact same route twice !. TIP - One Wind Turbine looks like the rest - Pick up a Map !. Either at the Visitor Centre ( good 🥣🫖☕️🍰🥪👍) or at the Display Board @ Blde Display. Other options utilise the Ardochrig entrance/exit for EK/ Strathaven/ The Heron 🥣🍴☕️🫖🍰

Rouken Glen Park was originally owned by the Scottish Crown. It takes its name from the old Rock End Meal Mill, from the 16th century. Eventually, the estate and mansions were gifted to the citizens of Glasgow in 1906. The park retains many of the Edwardian city park features such as the boating pond, a sculpted waterfall and walled garden.

The visitor centre and cafe at Whitelee are a super good visit location for you and the family. It is educational, interesting, and it has a great cafe. In fact, it is fascinating to hear about the UK’s largest onshore wind farm. You can also hire bicycles here if you want to ride around the rather large wind farm complex.

Barriers were down today (Aug 2024), but the ford was still passable. That is, as long as you can get your bike past the barrier.

Alternative gravel entry into Whitelees wind farm from Carrot Road. The walking section is just as brief but rougher. A possible short cut if going in direction of visitor centre. https://www.komoot.com/highlight/5905819

Just before Carrot/Carrot Farm take right fork onto track sign posted for wind energy test centre. On Google Streetview it looks like https://maps.app.goo.gl/EZsHutW7WtmzGmig9 This is a very good track up to the test centre and Carrot Moor Farm (not Carrot/Carrot Farm). Unusually a Google Street View car has been up this gravel track!!!! https://maps.app.goo.gl/SHyc5rhNHkhy3dhw7 Where sign for Carrot Moor Farm (& test centre) says no through road, take right fork which wasn't there when the Google Street View car was there in 2010. Eventually theis good track (ie right fork) stops. Go onto the unpromising looking path https://www.komoot.com/highlight/3776051 which is easy to follow and in ***less than 10 minutes of easy walking*** you are back onto the excellent and extensive network of tracks of Whitelees wind farm.
