Most of those buried here fell during the so-called Łódź Operation, which took place between the German and Russian armies in the period from November to December 1914. Most of them are victims of fighting in the immediate vicinity of Wiączyń, as well as Olechów, Janów, Nowosolna, Dąbrowa, Bedoń and Feliksin. Soldiers who fell in the area during other periods of the Great War are also buried here. According to estimates, about 9 thousand soldiers are buried in the cemetery. Among them are Poles conscripted into the Russian or German army.

On September 25, 1863, during the January Uprising, a battle was fought near the town, which also included skirmishes in the areas of Stryków and Skoszewo. The battle involved units of the Tsarist army and an insurgent unit under the command of Col. Michał Zieliński and Major Władysław Orłowski. On September 23, 2023, a plaque commemorating these events was unveiled.
