In Wikipedia, the following description of the church's history can be found; "The construction of the church dates back to a promise made in the final days of World War II. When the village threatened to be destroyed, the pastor vowed to build a new church in honor of the Patrona Bavariae if the place was spared. The prayer was heard and on September 1, 1945, the foundation stone for the new house of worship was laid.[1] It was a hall church built of rough ashlar masonry, meaning a church with a single-nave nave. It was completed in 1949. The church tower, covered with a cupola, is attached to the west side. The bell tower is located on the top floor of the church tower, and the tower clock is installed on the floor below. An octagonal steeple, also with a cupola, rises from the roof of the choir. The church furnishings include a late Baroque high altar built in 1777, which is said to come from Bamberg Cathedral. The altar retable, flanked by two columns on each side, was renewed in 1946. The central image of the high altar shows Mary, the Patrona Bavariae, with the infant Jesus and, above her to the right, the Archangel Gabriel, who, together with a second angel, holds the crown over the Mother of God as Queen of Heaven. Satan, fallen into hell with his followers, is depicted at the bottom right. The altar extension shows God the Father with a blessing hand."

The chapel was locked when we were there, but you can see inside very well through a small window.
