St. Nicolai Church in Steckby, also known as the Cyclists' Church on the Elbe Cycle Path: The church was built around 1200 as a Romanesque fieldstone building with a square chancel and semicircular apse. In the 18th century, it received a Baroque half-timbered tower with yellow brick and a characteristic cap, which forms a striking landmark above the nave. In 1888, the entrance under the tower was redesigned, and previous side entrances were bricked up. After 1991, the interior was completely renovated; the tower was extensively renovated at the beginning of the 21st century. In 1996, the church received new stained-glass windows by Richard O. Wilhelm. Further renovations took place in 2007, including the renovation of the tower and the expansion of the gallery, which is now accessible. The altar, with the painting "Christ and the Sinner," was donated by the Duke of Anhalt-Dessau. A historic organ by Zuberbier from the 18th century is also present. The bell dates from 1876 and was cast by Ulrich in Apolda. Since 2008, St. Nicolai has been an official cyclist's church on the Elbe Cycle Route R2 and, since 2009, a stop on the Luther Pilgrimage Trail. It is open daily during the season (Easter–Reformation Day) from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is wheelchair accessible, with information material, seating, water, and a portable toilet.

The simple Baroque altarpiece bears the painting "Christ and the Sinner," a gift from Duke Leopold III Friedrich of Anhalt-Dessau. The church interior was extensively renovated after 1991 and is in good condition. The organ, however, is in need of major repair due to its poor condition, especially since it is one of the most historically valuable instruments in this region. In 1996, Magdeburg artist Richard O. Wilhelm decorated the sanctuary of the Protestant St. Mary's Church in the neighboring town of Steutz with colored glass windows. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Nicolai_(Steckby)

The fieldstone church consists of a nave, a square choir, and a smaller, semicircular apse. The stones are evenly stacked up to the windows. An 18th-century half-timbered turret with yellow brick, a Baroque cap, and a lantern-shaped top sits on the western gable of the nave. The ridge turret and the nave roof are in very poor condition. Some of the window openings are still visible in their original outlines, as are the now-walled-up portals on the north and south sides. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Nicolai_(Steckby)
