Bordesholm Monastery Island The monastery founded in 1125 in Neumünster by Vicelin in Neumünster moved to Bordesholm in 1330. The canons secured an island in Lake Bordesholm with three dams and built a church and monastery building on it. The Bordesholm Monastery Church is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be visited unless something else is going on there. The monastery parish offers tours of the monastery church and the vaulted cellar with the art historian Nils Claussen. Tours for groups are offered as well as special age-appropriate programs for school classes. The cost is €30 for groups of up to 20 people, and €1.50 for each additional person.
