September 25, 2024, Ashokan Reservoir

This massive reservoir spans more than 8,000 acres and, depending on who you talk to, is somewhere around 180 to 190 feet deep. It makes for great scenery on your ride or, if you're really feeling ambitious, you could pack a travel fishing pole and try your hand for brown and rainbow trout. (Make sure you check local fishing regulations before getting your line wet!)

This fast and flowy road is a joy to cycle with panoramic views of a pine tree lined horizon. You gain a real feeling of remoteness whilst cycling on this road.

Near the midpoint of Peekamoose Road, we find ourselves at the shore of Peekamoose lake. This little body of water freshens the way and offers a little peace to enjoy. You might be even able to spot some fish in the water. It is really close from Peekamoose Blue Hole. The forest surrounding the area makes it a very warm ride through its roads.

Gorgeous deep pool of crystal-clear water. Just a few minutes walk from the road. Gets busy on weekends, and you’ll need a permit to hike to it in summer, but still worth the pilgrimage for a dip.

Lippman Park is home to a bunch of trails that were designed with mountain biking in mind. Foot traffic is still allowed on the trails, but it's probably best to step aside for all bikes regardless of the scenario since we are out in their territory. The singletrack trails are still fantastic for hiking and running, and there are a bunch of different loop options. The trails aren't super well-marked, though, so it's probably best to take your komoot map with you.
