Maribor's main bridge over the Drava (popularly known as the Stari Most, or Old Bridge) was built between 1909 and 1913. It replaced a previous wooden bridge a few meters further west. The bridge, which was an important part of the transport connection between Vienna and Trieste in Austria-Hungary, is 274 meters long, 122 meters of which actually span the Drava. Since 2023, the Splavarska Brv pedestrian and cyclist bridge has been docked to the Old Bridge.
