It is a large, protected estuary where the landscape changes completely with the tides: dunes, salt marshes, sandbanks, and pine forests. It is a good place to observe seals, otters, ospreys, and numerous migratory birds. To cycle it, it is best to always bring a raincoat and something warm to wear: it is an area very exposed to the sea and the weather can change quickly. With rain, humidity, or fog, the landscape also takes on that wild look so characteristic of the north of Scotland.
