January 29, 2025, Lowery Mill Creek Crossing and Old Railway Bridge (Salem Lake Trail)

Absolutely beautiful trail and this is exactly how I define a "gravel" trail. Not to rough and very few tree roots.

This man made crossing cuts across the creek and has a nice wooden bridge on it. The views of the lake are great and looking up the creek you can see an old train bridge that I believe is still in use.

Salem Lake has been called the hidden diamond of Winston-Salem being located just minutes away from the downtown area. It's a beautiful area and it has the Salem Lake Trail which makes for a 7-mile loop around the lake and makes a great hike or bike ride.

Although this foot bridge was build in 1998 it looks like something out of the past. It connects the Strollway to the south end of Old Salem. It is not the main entrance to Old Salem, but it is a nice entrance and is reminisce of something from that time period.

Salem Lake Dam is responsible for the nearby reservoir of the same name and dams up the Salem Creek. While hiking along the lake's shoreline, you will pass by the dam and can take a look at the massive construct.
