Forest Valley is great for summer and winter fun. In summer, hiking and biking on certain trails is the best way to see this protected area. In winter, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking and even skating on frozen ponds bring the forest to life in winter. Please stay on the paths to protect vegetation. The trail network here is perfect for exploring loops of different sizes instead of just out and back trails.

A Walk on Petrie Island There are some 5 km of walking paths on the islands - some are loops, some require retracing steps, for a total of 6 km (3½ miles). All are easy and offer spectacular views of the Ottawa River and quiet backwaters. They are designed for casual walking and everyone is asked to respect others who come to enjoy nature. Walk slowly and quietly in order to better observe wildlife. We ask that you do not go past the western end of the River Loop. The western half of the island is maintained as a nature preserve, and we try to minimize human impact. Bicycles are not permitted on trails. Nice paved bike path but noisy with the cars along the road beside it. Easy to enter from Masson Angiers but ended near Buckingham in an busy traffic area. Not familiar with Buckingham to know how to avoid traffic.
