Best bike parks around Bargteheide are limited to informal spots within the town, with more established facilities located in the wider region. Bargteheide is known for its general cycling infrastructure and a significant proposed "Ride & Roll-Park" project, which aims to create a recreational facility with a pumptrack and various ramps. While this project is still in planning, local riders utilize small, informal areas for practicing dirt jumps. For more comprehensive bike park experiences, options exist in nearby towns.

Great trail - love riding along here! But I have to bother you... Today, 21.6.26, I wanted to know if there are signs between Ahrensfelde Castle and Hagener Allee that prohibit cycling there... And lo and behold - there are actually signs... (one near Ahrensfelde Castle and one on Hagener Allee) With the inscription: Dear cyclists - Please dismount here! Push your bike. However, there are 4 official access points to this very trail. At all 4 official access points, there are NO signs and no indication that cycling is not permitted. Even on the street 'Am Rehm' (with a parking lot for visitors - with or without a bike) - there is no sign indicating that cycling is not allowed if you continue. Now I'm almost as smart as before. With the difference that I now know that there is a sign at the beginning and a sign at the end - just not in the middle... I'm just saying: ride carefully and be considerate!

Nice facility - great that something like this exists in Hamburg. First thing, head up the mountain - at the top there are several options for riding down. Several trails invite you to explore - incl. a small pump track! The path is passable. Actually, we always went for a walk here. But it is also fun to ride a gravel or mountain bike here. In certain weather conditions it is not always easy to get through here, as christian427 also says.

In January 2022, the path (coming from Beimoorweg) was impassable from halfway due to mud - it is now also used by horse riders. At a small mini pond it then became impossible to continue the tour. A small stream had dammed up there - it was impossible to pass through here - mud without end and in places up to 20 cm deep. The stream was almost 4 meters wide - so I either had to turn back or go cross-country to the main path. I had chosen the latter... Update: Dry and easy to ride in summer (September 2023)!

Someone has built a fireplace directly on the stone, but the stone can still be recognized.

The Bocksberg is currently not accessible by bike. Since the Corona period, a lot of people have been out and about here and cyclists in particular are prevented from riding by tree trunks and branches. There are probably just too many of us. Otherwise, there are great mountain bike trails here that you would certainly enjoy riding on a normal bike.

Bocksberg, Schüberg and Mellenberg, three small 60s in the immediate vicinity. If you then conquer the Hummelsbüttel garbage mountains, you have passed the big mountain license in the north of Hamburg. The ascents and descents are now blocked by many branches and trees and have been made impassable. If you want to get to the top, you have to push or look for alternative routes. That is also possible, but it is no longer MTBing, it is really just there to have seen the mountain.

Bargteheide currently has limited, informal spots primarily used for dirt jumping and practicing tricks. There is a significant proposed project, the "Ride & Roll-Park Bargteheide," which aims to include a pumptrack and various ramps, but it is still in the planning stages and not yet operational.
Yes, for more comprehensive bike park experiences, you'll need to venture to nearby towns. Cyclocross Land Hamburg offers a dedicated training area with typical cyclocross obstacles and a small pumptrack. Further afield, Bikepark Rellingen features a large asphalt pumptrack, a kids' pumptrack, and a dirt/bike park with multiple lines for different skill levels.
For mountain biking, you can explore areas like Bocksberg Trails, which features small hills and can be challenging due to natural blockages. Another option is the Beimoorwald S1 singletrack, known for its S1 difficulty rating and several transverse tree trunks, suitable for gravel or mountain bikes.
Yes, the Singletrack through the undergrowth at Bocksberg is described as challenging and more suitable for mountain bikes, with paths sometimes blocked by branches. The Dirt Park Barsbüttel is also known for being suitable "only for pros" and is not recommended for beginners.
When riding the Bocksberg Trails, you'll encounter small hills like Bocksberg, Schüberg, and Mellenberg, with an open space and seating at the top of Bocksberg offering a place to rest. The Trail along the Hopfenbach runs through the Hopfenbachmoor within the NSG Stellmoor-Ahrensburg Tunneltal, offering a scenic natural setting.
Yes, Cyclocross Land Hamburg is considered family-friendly, offering a technical circuit with obstacles and a small pump track suitable for various skill levels, including children and beginners. Additionally, the proposed "Ride & Roll-Park Bargteheide" aims to be suitable for all age groups and skill levels once completed.
Beyond bike parks, the Bargteheide region offers a variety of outdoor activities. You can find numerous hiking trails, such as the easy "Elvis Ice Cream Café Bargteheide – View Over the Fields loop" or the moderate "Obelisk in the Neuer Teich – Jersbeker Park loop." For general cycling, there are routes like the "Trail along the Beste – Rail Trail: Rümpel–Barkhorst loop." You can explore more options in the Hiking around Bargteheide and Cycling around Bargteheide guides.
The best time to visit is generally during drier seasons to avoid muddy conditions, especially on natural trails like the Beimoorwald S1 singletrack or the Singletrack through the undergrowth at Bocksberg, which can become adventurous when wet. Established parks like Bikepark Rellingen or Cyclocross Land Hamburg are often accessible year-round, but always check local conditions.
While general cycling routes typically don't require permits, some specific areas or dedicated bike parks might have rules. For instance, Freeride Park North e.V. and Flachlandfreeride e.V. (further away) require membership for access. Always look for local signage, as some trails, like parts of the Trail along the Hopfenbach, have had temporary cycling prohibitions in the past.
Visitors often appreciate the variety of experiences, from informal dirt jumping spots for practicing tricks to dedicated cyclocross training areas. The natural trails offer a chance to explore forests and enjoy varied terrain, providing a good challenge for mountain bikers. The community also values the efforts of local initiatives, such as the volunteers who built and maintain Cyclocross Land Hamburg.
Yes, there are pumptrack options. Cyclocross Land Hamburg features a small pumptrack. Additionally, Bikepark Rellingen, located not far from Hamburg, boasts a large asphalt pumptrack and a kids' pumptrack. The proposed "Ride & Roll-Park Bargteheide" also envisions including a pumptrack as one of its main areas.
