Cool route, but is also frequented by hikers. Since the trees are close together, this often causes surprises...

An easy single trail runs parallel to the road from Jahrsfeld to Hardert. The route was great fun. And above Hardert you have a great view of the Montabaurerhöhe with the Köppel, to the east and to the Neuwied basin and the Eifel to the south.

Thanks for pointing out the duplicates. Always check that, but strangely enough, these are sometimes not visible when using the app and the picture on the PC is different. Have you already reported the duplicate, otherwise I'll submit something. 👍🏼😉

Hello @Zwenne, great video. Was here now and mapped the trail with S1 +, as it is very narrow and on a slope. Very nice corner. Are you aware that this highlight has already existed and not everyone is a fan of duplicates?

As @ Vectra130 writes, the trail is from the perspective of a beginner who feels unsafe on the precipice (like me) maybe not as '0+'

The region around Bürdenbach, particularly the Wied Valley and the Westerwald, offers a variety of natural trails for mountain biking. You'll find diverse landscapes, from pleasant routes along the Wied River to more strenuous trails leading up to the Westerwaldhöhen. Many trails are singletracks winding through dense forests and along ridges, with options ranging from intermediate to challenging.
Yes, there are options for beginners and those looking for easier rides. For instance, the Buckelweg singletrack Jahrsfeld–Hardert is described as an easy-to-ride hump path, suitable even for beginners. Many intermediate trails also offer a good flow without being overly technical, such as the Single trail in Naturpark Rhein-Westerwald.
For more experienced riders, the Reichenstein Castle Ruins Trail offers a challenging S1/S2 experience with good flow and steps requiring better driving technique. Another challenging option is the Ilsenstein S1 Trail, known for its narrow path, flowy sections, and roots, with a tough uphill climb towards Kurtscheid.
The terrain is quite varied, featuring natural forest floors, gravel paths, and quiet country roads. You can expect significant elevation changes, including steep climbs up to the Westerwaldhöhen and fast descents back into the valleys. Trails often meander along slope ridges with changing subsoil, roots, and sometimes bare rock, especially in the Naturpark Rhein-Westerwald.
While dedicated bike parks with specific family zones are not prominent, the region offers general cycling routes suitable for families. The Wiedradweg, for example, is a beautiful and varied cycle path along the Wied River, incorporating forest paths, gravel paths, and quiet country roads, which can be enjoyed by families looking for a scenic ride.
The spring, summer, and autumn months generally offer the best conditions for mountain biking. Trails can become challenging when wet, with sections of bare rock and roots being particularly slippery. Some trails, like the Singletrack along the ridge in Naturpark Rhein-Westerwald, are probably only drivable in dry conditions. Winter riding is possible but requires caution due to potentially muddy or icy conditions.
Visitors frequently praise the natural beauty and the flow of the trails. Many appreciate the diverse landscapes, from dense forests to scenic ridges, and the fun depressions and challenging elements found on singletracks. The feeling of discovering unique trails in the region and the rewarding descents are often highlighted as key attractions.
Yes, the region offers several scenic viewpoints. For instance, the Buckelweg singletrack Jahrsfeld–Hardert provides a great view of the Montabaurerhöhe with the Köppel, and extends to the Neuwied basin and the Eifel to the south. Venturing onto the Westerwaldhöhen also offers charming descents with great views back into the Wied Valley.
Beyond mountain biking, the area around Bürdenbach is excellent for other outdoor pursuits. There are also extensive gravel biking routes, such as the 'Grenzbachtal – Grenzbachtal loop', and various running trails to explore.
Bürdenbach itself does not feature purpose-built bike parks with lifts or highly engineered features. Instead, the region excels in offering natural mountain biking experiences on existing trails. These trails provide a more organic challenge, utilizing the natural topography, forests, and river valleys, making them ideal for riders who prefer exploring scenic, less crowded routes over structured park environments.
