The Wolfgeist Tour is one of the top routes here in the area and offers everything a good route needs. In the original direction, it also has ultra-tough uphills that are a real challenge for the biologist. Especially from Karlsruhe up to the Lindkogel it is in a class of its own, which first needs to be conquered. Overall, it is a great route that is perfectly suited as training for tough uphill riding.

A really beautiful part of this route, but you should be careful in the autumn when the deeply dug path is full of leaves and you can easily miss branches and stones. And you don't want to have a technical breakdown up there.

In search of the namesake of this route, I also drove part of the Wolfsgeist route, which is also very worthwhile as a whole

I agree with Alex's 'verdict': S2! The trail falls steeply downhill and is extremely difficult for 'normal' drivers to drive on. I would describe the ascent (from Pernitz) as quite feasible and problem-free. Downhill, however, rooted with steps and hairpin bends. Real skill is required here :-)

Beautiful, relatively easy single trail that is still fun

Nice curvy trail, but the descent is not as extremely steep as the sign suggests. With 2 bends, however, one or the other will want to get off, but otherwise nice to ride

This trail is part of the official MTB route "Panoramarunde". The first part is a crisp ascent that requires a bit of condition, from this sign on it goes downhill properly. The narrow and exposed forest path is sometimes quite steep and leads down switchbacks into the Spatzenwälder Graben. I think you can already give an "S2" here, so I would not recommend the trail for beginners. Advanced skiers will love this section.

This is really an amazing trail: it's a mix of flow parts, combined with segments full of stones that could be more technical (but very few and not very steep in my opinion) or more flow, that somehow you can manage at high speed. And this mix really surprised me, because since the first try i was able to managed it at quite high speed (at least for me); i really enjoyed it and i already planned to do it again this week. Check the video below starting from 10:16, i was a bit overexcited in some parts :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dImjoRB2qo

Yes, the region offers options for less experienced riders. The Flowy Singletrack is described as a beautiful, relatively easy single trail that is still fun. Additionally, the Mayerling Flow Trail is considered easy to drive. For a very relaxed experience, the flat Triesting Allee Trail near Pottenstein follows the Triesting River, perfect for leisurely rides.
For experienced riders, the Spatzenwälder Trail is a challenging option, rated S2, featuring steep downhill sections, roots, steps, and hairpin bends that require real skill. The Lindkogel Trail is also recommended for downhill riding at high speeds, though it includes some challenging descents.
The trails are generally enjoyable throughout the warmer months. However, riders should be cautious in autumn. Some trails, like the Flowy Singletrack, can become less pleasant due to deep leaf cover hiding branches and stones, which can make riding less safe.
