Beautiful, quiet town, overlooking a splendid lake, at the foot of fantastic mountains, such as Mirnock where you can practice many sporting activities.

This is perhaps the hardest trail in the area which alternates flow sections where you need to let go of the brakes, with more technical sections where you need to be careful. Comfortable climb either partly along a dirt road or completely on asphalt.

You descend from the Kaiserburg on the longest flow trail in Europe to a crossroads on the left to find the "Rossalmhuttentrail" (signed T8), further down at a certain point you come across the crossroads for "Alter Almweg-trail" on the left (T1 ). This results in a magnificent descent of around 1000 metres, among the most beautiful in the area.

Super S2+ trail with a carrying passage (in my opinion simply not ridable for the not absolute pro) of approx. 1 minute in the middle / lower part of the trail at 2 key points that everyone will recognize as such ;-) With a good choice of line, the rest is absolutely rideable with good driving technique and is even more fun with every further descent. Definitely not a trail for beginners. As can be read in the other description, some of it is very steep and screwed up.

Why is this highlight called "Bikepark"!? This is a practice area and not a bike park! The creator of this highlight should find out what a bike park is!

It's great that after a long bike tour in the Nockberge you can take a dip in the lake at the end, wonderful!

While Paternion itself is known for an extensive network of cycling and mountain biking routes rather than dedicated bike parks, it serves as an excellent base for exploring diverse biking opportunities in the broader Carinthia region. You'll find numerous paths amidst lakes and mountains, catering to various skill levels from relaxed rides to challenging mountain bike tours.
Yes, within a reasonable distance in the Carinthia region, you can find several dedicated bike parks. These include the MTB ZONE Bikepark Petzen, known for Europe's longest flow trail, Bikepark Weissensee offering a unique 'Bike und Badespaß' experience, and the Singletrails Nassfeld with natural singletracks crossing the Italian-Austrian border.
The lake.bike Region around Villach, Faaker See, and Ossiacher See is particularly family-friendly. It offers kid-friendly options like three modern pumptracks, the Family Playground Ossiacher See, and a Kids Bike Park on Gerlitzen Alpe. For a more relaxed experience after a ride, Feld am See is a great spot to relax and take a dip in Brennsee.
For experienced riders seeking a challenge, the Kaiserburg to Feld am See Trail Descent (S1–S3) offers a magnificent 1000-meter descent with many single trail sections, roots, and rubble. The T25 Sternetrail is also demanding, rated S2-2.5, with steep parts and heels, making it unsuitable for beginners. The Gorge Trail is another advanced option with loose stones and root fields.
Many trails in the region offer breathtaking scenery. The lake.bike Region provides trails with panoramic views, especially around Trailcenter Ossiacher See. The Singletrails Nassfeld are known for their untouched character and scenic cross-border routes. Additionally, the Kaiserburg to Feld am See Trail Descent is appreciated for its landscape.
Yes, the Descent from Hermagorer Bodenalm is highlighted as having very good paths and being particularly fun for E-MTB riders.
Beyond bike parks, the Paternion area offers a variety of outdoor activities. You can explore numerous mountain bike trails, as detailed in the MTB Trails around Paternion guide. There are also extensive options for hiking around Paternion and gravel biking, allowing you to experience the region's lakes and mountains in different ways.
The settlement of Feld am See is a great spot to find cafes, pubs, and restaurants. For cyclists looking for specialized accommodation, the lake.bike Region offers 'lake.bike BASECAMPS' which provide secure storage and repair facilities for bikes.
The Carinthia region, where these bike parks are located, generally offers excellent conditions for biking from spring through autumn. The specific best time can depend on the trail's altitude and whether you prefer warmer weather for lake activities or cooler temperatures for challenging descents.
For places like MTB ZONE Bikepark Petzen, you can comfortably reach the trail's starting point at 1000 meters altitude via a gondola. For the Kaiserburg to Feld am See Trail Descent, you can take the gondola up to the Kaiserburg, or for a more strenuous option, ride up via a forest path.
Yes, Bikepark Weissensee offers a unique 'Bike und Badespaß' (bike and swim fun) experience, with a special 'Bike und Boot' option allowing you to shorten routes by taking a boat ride on Weissensee. The Singletrails Nassfeld are notable for being repurposed old hiking and smuggling paths, providing natural singletracks and cross-border routes between Italy and Austria.
